about Griselda Ortiz

Griselda Ortiz was born and raised in Havana, Cuba where she attended the University of Havana. There she received her degree in Spanish language, specializing in Latin-American literature. She has worked as a TV producer, translator and proofreader, in Cuba and the US. Griselda received a Master of Arts in Spanish from FIU. Griselda wrote the text for the FUNDARTE production Writing in Sand, a play that was performed in Miami, several countries in Latin America, and as part of Havana’s Theater Festival. She was a professor at FMU and feels great pride in having been a part of the mission of a HBCU. She has now taken time off from teaching to work on some long-cherished writing projects.
