about Ana Maria Carrano

Ana María Carrano is a journalist passionate about innovation, arts and social impact. She was born in Venezuela and has lived in the United States since 2013. Selected as a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University (2013-2014), and to be part of the Babson College Win Lab (2017-2018 cohort.) Awarded the Roche Journalism Award 2020 (Gabo Foundation & Roche LATAM); the Excellence Journalism Award/Honorable Mention, SIP 2019 (Inter American Press Association) and MDC Innovation Prize 2018 (2nd. Place.) She has worked in newsrooms, non-profits, art galleries and in an art museum. For several years, she promoted the preservation of cultural heritage through journalism and photogrammetry. She currently works as a Senior Editor at Univision’s “El Detector,” the first fact-checking platform in Spanish in the United States.
