Jose Antonio Evora worked for a decade at El Nuevo Herald, mostly as a staff writer and critic for the Arts and Entertainment section. Later he was a producer for “A Fondo con Pedro Sevcec” TV program (Channel 41/America CV Network); “Prohibido Callarse” with Roberto Rodríguez Tejera and Helen Aguirre (Univisión Radio), and Mega TV’s nightly newscast. In 1993 he was awarded with a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship, and in 2004, a First Place Award from the National Association of Hispanic Publications. He is the author of the books Tomás Gutiérrez Alea (Editorial Cátedra, Madrid, 1996) and David (Letras Cubanas, Havana, 1986), and co-author of Encyclopedia of Contemporary Latin American and Caribbean Cultures (Routledge, London, 2000); Cuba, la isla possible (Centre de Cultura Contemporania, Barcelona, 1995) and Le Cinema Cubain (Center Georges Pompidou, Paris, 1990), among others.More By This Author
