about Alejandro Rios

Alejandro Rios is an expert film and art critic, founder and curator of Miami Dade College’s Cuban Cinema Series since 1993. He programs the Spotlight on Cuba and the Cuban Cinema Series for the Miami Film Festival. Since 1992, Rios has contributed to the Miami Book Fair Ibero American Program and served as a journalist, juror, and lecturer at international film festivals in cities like Havana, Miami, and New York. He co-curated the Forbidden Fruit program at Coral Gables Art Cinema in 2018 and has been a jury member for the Miami Short Film Festival. Rios was the anchor and producer of the TV show La Mirada Indiscreta on AmericaTeVe for ten years and currently serves as a cinema critic with weekly segments on América Noticias. He has published a book, “La Mirada Indiscreta,” and wrote columns for El Nuevo Herald and Cubanet. Rios was also the Hispanic media specialist at Miami Dade College for 26 years.
