about Erin Parish

Erin Parish is an artist, curator, and cultural organizer based in Miami Beach, FL. She came to Miami from NYC in 2005 for 3 months and stayed. Curating since the 1990s, Parish led art tours to Havana, created an art benefit at the Soho Beach House and has had consistent New York City, among others, representation since 2000. She was previously the Director of Exhibitions at Laundromat Art Space in Miami, worked in numerous NYC galleries as well at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, NY, NY when she was 18. She grew up in a her father’s artist’s loft in inner-city Detroit and with her mom and her partner on a hippy commune in Southern Indiana. She taught painting at Queen College after receiving her MFA and was support staff for three years at Bennington College in the print department. Parish completed her BA at Bennington College, VT., studied painting in pre-unification Berlin, Germany, holds her MFA in Painting from Queens College, NY, and studied post-degree education in Photography at the School of Visual Arts, NY, NY. She has had over thirty one person shows and been reviewed in the New York Times, Art in America, and Art News among others. She was a resident at the Vermont Studio Center and the Fine Arts Work Center, Provincetown, MA where she received a grant from the Hand Hollow Foundation. Currently she is on the board of Miami’s collaboARTive and has recently closed a solo exhibition at Spanierman Modern, NY, NY.
