Delou Africa Dance Ensemble

The name DELOU (is a Wolof word from Senegal West Africa) means “back to,” or “return to.” D.A.D.E. closely follows this definition with its commitment to community development and the preservation of African culture influenced by the African Diaspora. D.A.D.E. is an artistic collective including drummers/musicians, storytellers, and dancers that work and perform together as an ensemble. Our artists are seasoned performers and perform and teach locally and internationally. Our performances include traditional West African dance and drum techniques. D.A.D.E. can captivate any audience with these performances which are rich with energy, talent, excitement, and passion. Our performers wear Traditional and Vibrant costumes when they perform an array of dance, song and drumming techniques. D.A.D.E.’s movements and rhythms are executed, with an explosive energy that often leaves audiences captivated, entertained, and touched. Our phenomenal musicians are multi-talented and can play a variety of Traditional African instruments. In 2010 D.A.D.E. moved its residency from FIU (Biscayne Bay) to the Little Haiti Cultural Center in Miami. Immediately after this new location was established we expanded our brand to include a more in depth community opportunity for participants and audiences to learn about West African dance, drum, music and culture. This expansion resulted in the creation of Delou Africa, Inc. an educational cultural arts community base non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that enhance cultural awareness and empower individuals to embrace diversity through our artistic educational programs for children, families and adults.
