New World Puts Spring into the Dance

Springtime is for lovers, one always hears. Well, in Miami, it’s for dance lovers. How is one not supposed to feel enamored by what the city’s New World School of the Arts (NWSA) will be showcasing from April 14 through April 17? That’s when students and internationally renowned choreographers of the downtown visual and performing arts school present their Spring Dance Concert, which features five world premieres and — drumroll, please — the reconstruction of a master work by Doris Humphrey, an Illinois-born modern-dance pioneer who died in 1958, but whose techniques are still being taught today. And the works of the other choreographers featured will also put a spring into April’s heels, such as:
