From the tradition of marching bands that grew out of the network of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the United States, DRUMLine Live, presented a revue of music based on sports halftime shows and more.
It took place on the Main Stage of the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center on April 1, 2017.

For 35 years, MOMIX has created a unique art form that defies definition. The company describes itself as dancer-illusionist. MOMIX returned to South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center on March 18 and 19, 2017.
Copresented by SMDCAC and CULTURE SHOCK MIAMI, MOMIX performed a revitalized and reimagined program called “Opus Cactus,” depicting life on the desert.

Hooray for Bollywood! The live Bollywood musical review, TAJ EXPRESS, came to the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center on March 5, 2017, complete with singers, dancers, musicians, costumes and a dazzling set.
Presented by the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center and CULTURE SHOCK MIAMI, TAJ EXPRESS introduced many in the audience to one of the most popular of India’s entertainment art forms.

In its return engagement to South Florida, The PEKING ACROBATS took the Main Stage of the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center on February 25, 2017 in the Year of the Rooster.
Once again, these artists from Beijing, China brought their 2,000 year-old tradition of music, martial arts, juggling and gymnastics to Cutler Bay.
Culture Shocker students, ages 13 to 22, were heavily represented in the audience. The Culture Shock YOU Review Crew talked with some of these students who shared their reactions to the performance.

“A Cappella” is vocal harmony without instruments. VOCALOCITY, with its 10 voices strong, treated South Florida to a night of “a cappella” from Gregorian chants to contemporary pop hits. It all took place on February 3, 2017, on the Main Stage of South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center.

For the 9th consecutive year, the Dranoff 2 Piano Foundation has engaged more than 60,000 Miami-Dade County public middle and high school students in live in-school 2-piano concert experiences.
The program inspires students to explore their own creativity and relationship to Music and to express themselves through the spoken word and poetry. They then compete to win a place on the stage of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and perform their original poems along with professional dancers, musicians, a poet and DJ.
The Culture Shock Miami YOU Review Crew met with students on both sides of the curtain of PIANO SLAM 9 on February 16, 2017 to find out what the arts and PIANO SLAM have meant to them . . . .

They were presented by CULTURE SHOCK MIAMI and South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center in a program of 3 works including some of their own commissions.
