MAMP Conference kicks off Arts Biz workshop series

Once again, nearly 100 arts executives gathered at the Arsht Center for the Miami Arts Marketing Conference. The event is the kick-off to the Miami Arts Marketing Project Series hosted by the Arts & Business Council of Miami.

At the conference, arts executives and entrepreneurs spent the day learning from local and national experts representing a spectrum of industries on how to deliver impactful strategies through innovative marketing practices.

During the full-day event, participants both listened to presentations made by experts including Karen Eber Davis, a business consultant known for helping businesses use philanthropy to grow their profits and performance. Following her presentation, the day’s attendees worked together in teams using Eber Davis’ Idea Growing Tool worksheet.

Packed house at the 2018 MAMP Conference at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

The Corporate Pitch Session presentation was next with Jennifer Vera of MitVista Consulting. Her talk was also followed by an interactive exercise where those in attendance put their thinking caps on to create a corporate pitch. Worksheets with specific steps and a final pitch formulation were used during this activity.

A keynote address by outgoing Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs Deputy Director Deborah Margol, shed light on the economic impact of the arts on the community. Her speech was filled with hard numbers, fact and figures that brought about awareness to the arts groups on the importance of the work they do.

A flash talk by Arianne Traverso on her philosophy of helping entrepreneurs and business leaders make a bigger impact on the world was also part of the afternoon. And it all concluded with Dan Grech of BizHack leading a Digital Storytelling Bootcamp. Grech’s assignment to the group was to roam around the Arsht Center and create a digital story using their cell phones.

Coaching tables in the Expo area also gave participants an opportunity to seek expert advice on various areas including social media, marketing and branding.

Long-time attendee Nicolle Ugarriza, marketing and communications manager at South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center said “the MAMP Conference always provides us with practical information to make our marketing plans better.” She went on to say, “it also is a chance for the arts marketing community to get together and share ideas, which is invaluable.”

The next event in the Arts & Business Council’s series is Target Your Audience Lab 1 also at the Arsht Center. Find the details and sign up here. https://www.artsbizmiami.org/event/mamp-lab-1-target-your-audience
