This is your opportunity to have your work featured as part of the City of Coral Gables Art in Public Spaces program. We all remember the Umbrella Sky installation at Giralda Plaza,  installed and designed by the company Sextafeira, which became an Instagram #selfie sensation.

The City of Coral Gables is seeking artist proposals for the next great installation on the cities grand Giralda Plaza and have issued an international call to artists with a deadline of March 15, 2019.

“The goal of Giralda Sky is to welcome residents and visitors, through art, to encourage a socially engaging experience that elicits discussion; is a gathering place for family and friends; is shared with others through social media; incites reflection; arouses curiosity and inspires repeat visits and further exploration of Coral Gables. This first artist-led temporary installation has a further goal of incorporating environmental sustainability as part of the concept and design.” (Giralda Sky RFP)

Dream up your proposal, and dream big. The budget is up to $150,000 for an artwork installation worthy of global attention. Extra points for installations that offer shade to passers-by, as the work will be on view from June to August, 2019. You can learn more about the call for proposals on the City of Coral Gables website, www.coralgables.com/GiraldaSky.

Don’t delay – the deadline is this Friday, March 15, 2019!
