about Jordan Levin

Jordan Levin was the dance critic for the Miami Herald from 1999 to 2017, when she also served as Latin music critic and wrote about pop music, theater, film, television, and cultural trends. Jordan produced multiple radio features for WLRN-Miami Herald News, as well as two for National Public Radio, and has taught Feature Writing at the University of Miami School of Communications. A former dancer/performer on New York’s experimental downtown scene, Jordan performed at the BAM Next Wave Festival, Performance Space 122, and the Pyramid Club, among others. She began her career as a journalist in Miami in the early 90’s, writing for the Herald, the L.A. Times, the New York Times, Dance Magazine, Ocean Drive, and numerous other local and national publications. Currently Jordan hosts the Dance Talks series for the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center; freelances for publications including the New York Times, American Theatre Magazine, Opera News, and ArtBurst; and writes for arts organizations and her blog CultureViewMIA. She is working on a cultural memoir of her time in the East Village.
