In her 2025-26 budget, Levine Cava has proposed a 52% reduction in funding for cultural events and activities to help close a $402 million budget deficit.

On Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 6:45 p.m., The Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs Council is featuring a virtual Town Hall with Mayor Danielle Levine Cava through Zoom. The invitation states that the purpose of the Town Hall is for the mayor  “to learn how arts and culture are represented in the proposed Miami-Dade County 2025–2026 budget.”

On Wednesday at 8 a.m., just before the City Commission’s budget hearing is set to begin, Arts Action Miami is planning a ground-floor arts arts activation at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center until 9:15 a.m. The budget hearing begins at 9:30 a.m.

Artists will be performing and engaging the public along with a press conference surrounded by live performances, according to Arts Action Miami, the grass roots effort that was launched in response to the proposed reduction to arts funding in Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s proposed 2025-26 arts budget.
