The Arts & Business Council of Miami is back with their annual Miami Arts Marketing Project Labs, kicking them off in February with Corporate Sponsor Pitch Session. This year’s theme is StoryCentric 2019.

Held at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, the workshop was a morning filled with informative presentations by expert panelists on how to formulate an ideal corporate pitch.

Janet Altman, Marketing Principal for Kaufman Rossin, led the panel featuring Belissa Alvarez, Director of The Jorge M. Perez Family Foundation/Related Philanthropic Foundation; Morgan Ben-David, Franchise Law attorney; Sara M. Hernandez, Senior Vice President – Business Development Team Leader at Biscayne Bank; Wolfgang Pinther, Director of Marketing at MBAF accounting firm and Deborah Briggs, Vice President of Philanthropy at The Betsy – South Beach.

The panelists were generous in sharing their best tips for connecting with an organization and shared stories about their own best partnerships. They also talked about why their respective organizations are committed to supporting the arts and how it benefits their business, their employees and communities.

Following the panel talk, attendees were lead through an activity to strategize on formulating a proper corporate pitch, facilitated by professionals in marketing, corporate partnerships, marketing consulting and events management.

Broken up into groups by table, they jotted down notes on topics such as target demographics, key assets that could benefit potential sponsors, what makes their group unique, and tangible values a sponsor could expect from them.

Taking their notes, they were tasked with writing an actual pitch and presenting it to the room, including the panelists who gave them both positive feedback as well as tips and suggestions on areas for improvement. Participants walked away with tools to take back to their respective arts groups to support the development of their own corporate sponsor pitch sessions.

The next MAMP Lab “Telling Your Story to the Media” is scheduled for April 2, also at the Arsht Center. Led by Suzette Espinosa, Vice President of Communications for the Arsht Center, the Lab will include a stellar group of six journalists.
