There is a growing trend of hotels and luxury resorts opening their doors to area locals and hosting events focused on the arts. ArtSea Saturdays at The Trump International Beach Resort is another great example of this, with a combination of happy hour, arts activation, and luxury destination all in one, designed to welcome locals and visitors alike.

“The Trump International Beach Resort embraces the arts across all mediums,” explains Director of Marketing Jim Monastra. “We wish to bring our love of the arts not only to our resort guests but to the local community as well. By partnering with the Arts & Business Council of Miami, we can deliver a one of a kind art experience in a beautiful oceanfront setting with music, food and drink…and sand between your toes.”

The Arts & Business Council has partnered with the luxury resort and will present four events in 2020, from January to April. Each event will feature visual artists painting live while Gili’s Beach Club delivers tropical libations, live DJ sets, and a view of the glittering Atlantic Ocean.

ArtSea Saturdays at The Trump International Beach Resort kick off on January 18, 2020 with renowned Little Havana artist, Katey Penner painting her original “Wish Fish” live. Guests can participate by decorating paper fish scales and writing wishes for 2020 to be included on the piece of art.

Featured artist Katey Penner presents the distinctly South Floridian collision of culture, color, and customs into her acrylic paint pieces. Her subjects range from musicians, to landscapes, to portrait work, all filled with vibrant colors. During January’s ArtSea Saturday, guests are invited to join Katey in the creation of a giant six-foot fish, with scales carrying each person’s wish for the New Year. The Wish Fish will be on display throughout the evening and will remain on property at the Resort.

Pati Vargas, artist and arts curator, will bring a taste of Miami Art Week to the beach with five pieces from Umbrellas of Little Havana. The spectacular display of artist-designed large scale umbrellas blends designs from famous caricaturists and emerging artists alike. Also on display, you’ll find Britto-designed jewelry presented exclusively from OC Jewelers.

On February 15, over Valentines’ Weekend, ArtSea Saturdays will host visual artist Annie M. as she paints a heart-themed piece.  Guests will be invited to create their own heart masterpieces based on the artist’s work. The event offers the perfect opportunity for art lovers to share a romantic and creative evening together.

Annie M. is a Cuban-American artist, born and raised in Miami where her work is culturally inspired by this vibrant and diverse city. Her style includes the colors and themes of life in Miami and combines acrylics, watercolors and oil paints to give varying textures to her work.

Artwork by another local Cuban-American artist, Julio Roberto, will also be on display and Julio will be mingling with guests throughout the evening. His work draws inspiration from Little Havana and he infuses his art with romance, spirituality and the tropical vibes of Cuba and the Caribbean.

The series continues in March with “Spread Your Wings.” Featuring a colorful backdrop painted by artist Maria Patiño and photos by photographer Keith Spurlock, guests can pose in front of the wings for an “Instagram perfect” image. There will also be a contest to award the best and most creative beach cell phone photo.

Finally, in April, the resort celebrates the season with “Spring is in the Air.” This event will feature a local jewelry artisan who will design unique pieces while guests create their own works of art. An interactive selfie station will invite social sharing with a 5’ inflatable heart to “show your love the for the arts” and other fun spring props.

ArtSea Saturdays is an opportunity to embrace your creativity and share a fun evening of art, music, dancing, and more. Every month, guests and visitors can enjoy all the sights and sounds of the beachside party with DJ Nuny Love, adding her musical art to the evening.
